Chef Rui Silvestre's Fifty Seconds restaurant in Lisbon won its second Michelin star on Tuesday at the third edition of the exclusively national gala, held in Funchal, bringing the number of establishments with this distinction in the country to nine.

The good times continue to roll for Portuguese haute cuisine with ten new restaurants now boasting a Michelin star, while Fifty Seconds received its second afte a gala award night in Funchal.

Ten new restaurants also entered the Michelin Guide Portugal 2026 with one star

The restaurant is one hundred and twenty meters above sea level. To reach it you have to go up in a panoramic elevator (avoid those who suffer from vertigo), which takes exactly fifty seconds.

The Repsol Guide, a ceremony that aims to celebrate Iberian gastronomy, honored 194 Portuguese restaurants today, with four receiving the top distinction of three Suns, in a ceremony that marked the guide's return to Portugal after a nine-year absence.

The awards ceremony took place this Monday at the Convento de São Francisco in Santarém, attended by government officials, Repsol representatives and figures from the gastronomic sector.

The Repsol Guide suns shine brightest for Belcanto, Il Gallo D'Oro, Ocean and Yeatman Santarém hosted the Repsol Guide Gala, which distinguished 70 restaurants with one, two and three suns, as well as sustainable suns.
