FIFTY SECONDS Martin Berasategui, SANA Group’s newest restaurant project, is located atop the 120-metres high Myriad by SANA hotel, in the iconic Vasco da Gama Tower.
The 50-second lift ride to the top of the tower is the reason behind the name of this new restaurant, FIFTY SECONDS Martín Berasategui, a reference space in the Portuguese and international restaurant industry.
FIFTY SECONDS Martin Berasategui is more than just the chef’s gastronomic take on the city of Lisbon. It’s a spiritual project with the best team of professionals, all of whom with a single goal: to ensure that all courses are an explosion of aromas and flavours.
Shimmering copper and smoky blues set the tone for the elegant colour palette of FIFTY SECONDS Martin Berasategui, a space which seats only 35 and panoramic views of the Tagus river. Interior architect Nuno Rodrigues and his Metrobox and Stabörd teams have designed everything down to the smallest detail.
From the exuberant climate-controlled wine cellar, to the furniture and lighting, not to mention the accessories and décor, everything was created exclusively for this space, to give it its own personality and a sophisticated, cosmopolitan ambiance.
He began working in kitchens at the age of 13, starting at the family restaurant. The became in charge of his own kitchen at the age of 21, and five years later he received his first Michelin star. In 1993, he opened the Martin Berasategui restaurant, which received a Michelin star the year it opened, one in 1996 and another in November 2001, which places him among the 30 best chefs in the world.
Martin Berasategui oversees the kitchen at multiple restaurants, and now, thanks to the SANA Group, he is the only chef with 8 Michelin stars in Portugal.

Martin Berasategui’s permanent team is comprised almost exclusively by Portuguese chefs:
Filipe Carvalho, one of the most prominent names on the Portuguese gastronomic scene, serves as head chef. Maria João Gonçalves is the pastry chef. Rui Monteiro, will serve as host. Marc Pinto is the head sommelier of FIFTY SECONDS Martín Berasategui and is responsible for everything you drink in this space.
